Eco Soul Ericeira Guesthouse was born out of a strong desire to get closer to nature and live a sustainable life. We are both surfers and we first discovered the Ericeira World Surfing Reserve in 2011. After a few years, we bought a property on our favourite beach, S\u00e3o Juli\u00e3o beach, which is between Ericeira and the Sintra Cascais Natural Park.<\/p>\n

For some time, it was our vacation home. Gradually, it became our home. We felt so happy to be in such a paradise, that we decided to share our home, our lifestyle and our commitment to the environment with others. We take advantage of available resources (sun, vegetation, rain and wind) to reduce environmental impacts, energy consumption and CO2 emissions.<\/p>\n

To transform our house into an Ecological Accommodation we had to make decisions about sustainable equipment, materials and refurbishment techniques.\u00a0 All our choices are in every detail of the house and are often imperceptible. However, we know they are there.\u00a0 They are in the soul of the house. That is why we named it Eco Soul.<\/p>\n

If you chose Eco Soul Ericeira Guesthouse for your holidays, you also made a commitment to the environment. Congratulations on your choice! We hope you share our environmental concerns and that together we can make a sustainable stay.<\/p>\n

Some facts:<\/p>\n

The orientation of the building allowed us to adopt bioclimatic and achieve energy efficiency. We have integrated a passive ventilation system and electric blinds for the temperature control of the house. With this, we minimize the use of non-essential electronic devices such as air conditioning. We have opted for natural and renewable energies such as the biomass energy boiler for heating bath water and radiators.<\/p>\n

80% of the land is green areas that are treated by hand and without chemicals. Among them are our ecological mini-horta and a place with aromatic herbs.\u00a0 Natural and renewable materials have been used for the refurbishment of the building, which do not require the use of chemicals in their maintenance, as is the case of micro cement in bathrooms.\u00a0 We restore and reuse furniture and wooden pieces, which we integrate into the decoration of the space.<\/p>\n

We have implemented a project for the use of rainwater for garden and vegetable garden irrigation and created an outdoor rainwater shower.<\/p>\n

The other actions that we incorporated with the beginning of our activity as Local Accommodation were the ethical and ecological commerce, the reduction of food waste, the treatment of waste and the awareness actions.<\/p>\n
